This year’s New Year’s card 2020 is a hommage to the deep vision behind Auroville, with the inspired artwork of the Matrimandir’s Garden of Power by Auroville artist Emanuele Scanziani, and the painting the Mother named “Heralds of the Supramental World” painted by Promode Kumar on the night of 29 February 1956. Auroville-born babies are the City of Dawn’s newcomers in every sense!
In a 2-part article, we honor the midwives who help bring these babies into the world.
This Part 1 of our report is by Hilde.

Jaya – a Pioneer for the City the Earth needs
Jaya first came to Auroville’s early barren landscape from Sweden in 1971 as a young girl of 19. Her experiences and contributions over the decades are a beautiful narrative of Auroville’s growth in the service of human unity. Now a grandmother, her family continues its decades-long commitment to living in and building the City of Dawn.
