Auroville has a new window showcasing research on waste management: The Upcycling Studio with Ok, Marc and Maggy opened the shop “Start Upcycling Auroville” at the Visitor Center, to raise awareness among the approx. 1 Million people coming to Auroville`s Visitors Center yearly.

A few days before the inauguration of Auroville, the Mother “perched on a low stool and armed with a huge black felt-pen” started writing the Auroville Charter. A unique document in earth’s history, it has given a new challenge to the human spirit – and the challenge of building a unique universal town for this unique, visionary charter.

But Auroville – The Mother’s City of Dawn – has stood the test of time, continuing to grow with richness and vibrancy. In this 50th year, we salute Auroville and remember The Mother’s wish for the land, Auroville’s material body!

New Auroville Land Thanks to Your Donations

Your donations to Acres for Auroville have enabled Auroville’s Land Board to acquire 29 plots and 45 acres of previously missing land to date – close to the Matrimandir, near the Solar Kitchen, in the International Zone, in City Area communities, and in the Greenbelt. La Mère – une artiste” … notre nouveau film !

En 1992, l’ashram publia le livre définitif des peintures, croquis et dessins de la Mère. Son œuvre ainsi que le contexte historique de ses périodes de création dans le Paris de la « Belle Epoque », de l’Algérie, du Japon, et de l’Ashram est maintenant disponible dans un film en version française et anglaise.

Dear Aurovilians – Inspiration from Karan Singh’s Auroville Collaboration

The new book “Dear Aurovilians – Inspiration from Karan Singh’s Auroville Collaboration”, documents the longstanding services of Dr. Singh, Chairman of the Auroville Foundation, for Auroville and re-lives many key moments in Auroville’s development. As Aurovilian Marco Feira puts it: “It is one of the fundamental books in Auroville’s history.” Prepared by A4A’s Aryadeep Acharya, it was released on 7th September in an official ceremony in Auroville by Lt. Governor of Puducherry Dr. Kiran Bedi in the presence of Dr. Singh, and dignitaries. The video of the event can be seen here.

November 24th Messages: from 1929 to 1972

Here is a selection of some of the messages issued by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother over the years to mark the special date of November 24th, 1926, also known as the “Victory Day”. The messages start from 1929, three years after this landmark event, and go up to 1972.

A4A’s new film on The Mother as an artist now exists in French and in English!

In 1992, the Ashram published the definitive book of The Mother’s paintings, sketches, and drawings. Now her artwork is available as a film in French version, as well as in English, along with the background to her creative periods in France, Algeria, Japan, & the Ashram. “La Mère – une artiste” and “The Mother – an artist and artistic influence” – by “AuroImage” to support the A4A campaign for Auroville’s still-missing land.
