Auroville has recently selected three dynamic Aurovilians – Raja, Satyakam, and Venkat – to serve as new members on the Land Board, joining existing members Rajavelu and Renu and re-appointed members Helena and Padmanabhan. We are happy to share this introduction to the new members, and wish all of the Land Board the best as they begin a new mandate!
Art for Land will hold its new cycle of beauty and solidarity for Auroville’s land with an exhibition of over 1500 donated works. Our Opening Ceremony on Sunday, January 30th at the Unity Pavilion will be followed by a month of inspiring events till 6th March, followed by more special actions in this special anniversary year. Our aim is to create a beautiful gift of resources for Land Purchase for Auroville. Join us!
“Acres for Auroville ” (A4A) is embarking on its 8th year at the service of a unified and harmonious land base for Auroville. Looking back on the seven years of collective action since A4A’s launch on 15th August 2014, we feel both happiness and a sense of utility. Exclusively funded by your donations to the « Acres for Auroville » land campaign, Auroville has added another 2.39 farming acres to its designated Master Plan area. This new land has joined Kalpavruksha Farm, consolidating more of this vital Greenbelt area, and strengthening Auroville’s food production abilities, bio-diversity and ongoing greenwork. We sincerely thank all of the donors whose generosity has made this new purchase possible!
April is a special month as the creation of Auroville has its roots in two significant events – the arrival of Sri Aurobindo to Pondicherry in 1910, and the definitive arrival of The Mother in 1920 to work by his side. Since our last announcement, Auroville has added 19.09 new consolidating acres in five Greenbelt areas, all funded by your donations! We thank all you donors who made these purchases possible and congratulate the Land Board for these achievements. Our sincere appreciation goes to the land owners whose goodwill made these purchases happen in such a harmonious spirit. May we continue to manifest together the City of Dawn!
Here’s a happy summary by Jaya of the Unity Pavilion of the very beautiful and professional exhibition of Art for Land 2021 with its rich program of land fundraising activities. Acres for Auroville sincerely thanks all who gave their time and creativity so generously! The funds raised from the art sales and the donations at the events go for purchase of Auroville’s missing lands via the A4A campaign.
