The year 2022 began with the good news of the purchase of 3 new plots of Master Plan land located in Auroville’s Greenbelt! Two of the new plots are located in the Pitchandikulam community nature reserve and one new plot is near Fertile – all three were purchased thanks to land donations. Warm appreciation for these happy events goes to the Land Board, the LFAU team, the many donors, and the land owners who chose to sell their land to Auroville to support the flowering of the City of Dawn!

We are happy to present a historical perspective and the milestones of Auroville’s land consolidation and fundraising over the decades, as compiled by long-time fundraiser, Aryadeep. In it, he pays tribute to the many people – Aurovilians, government officials, eminent leaders – who have contributed their energy and devotion to the cause of Auroville’s land. Donor generosity has always played a major role. With 10% of the City and over 50% of the Green Belt still missing, the task isn’t over!

Art for Land will hold its new cycle of beauty and solidarity for Auroville’s land with an exhibition of over 1500 donated works. Our Opening Ceremony on Sunday, January 30th at the Unity Pavilion will be followed by a month of inspiring events till 6th March, followed by more special actions in this special anniversary year. Our aim is to create a beautiful gift of resources for Land Purchase for Auroville. Join us!
