After a successful début with a small ‘in-house’ auction on 1st March at the Unity Pavilion, where Aurovilians and guests purchased 20 art works for a total of over two lakh Rupees, a dedicated website with an online sales facility is nearing completion. It will offer the over 60 donated works to date – with more being contributed on an ongoing basis – to an audience radiating out from Auroville to the international web of Auroville friends and well-wishers. The enthusiasm and generosity – from Auroville and Ashram artists and from buyers – has been most encouraging, and warmest thanks go to all participating artists. All proceeds of Art for Auroville Land are used directly for the purchase of land, along the same principles as the A4A and GreenAcres fundraising campaigns, but dedicated to land purchase anywhere in Auroville, according to Auroville’s Land Board’s needs. Our next physical auction and events will take place all throughout the month of February at Auroville’s Unity Pavillion.
