Thanks to your donations to the ‘Acres for Auroville’ campaign, another new strategic plot in the Greenbelt was just purchased in March!
Since January alone, A4A donations have financed four new plots of vital Master Plan land, making 8 plots total so far – all thanks to your solidarity!
From the early years til now, planting trees and forests in Auroville have been a pre-occupation -occupation for many ‘greenbelters’: plant tree saplings in the hot desert sun, green the land, create bunds to ward off rain water being washed down into the sea; engage in water and soil conservation. The result so far has been rewarding: the forest cover grew in Auroville, allowing indigenous trees species to return and with it, birds and all kinds of wild animals found their homes in the newly created green heavens.
A new addition to our land outreach actions – small cards for spreading the message. These new cards have been placed in friendly Auroville “hotspots” and have already had a great success! Share them with friends to help fill in the land puzzle’s missing parts!
Thank to donor solidarity, Auroville’s Land Board was able to enlarge the City of Dawn’s land base by 7.62 acres – with 6 new additions in the past 4 months alone! Your donations bring needed resources for manifesting the City of Dawn!
21 Visitors Centre units and Marathon Market participants contributed proceeds from their sales on Marathon weekend to benefit Auroville’s land. The VC restaurants and eateries maintained their solidarity action for the entire month with inspiring cards encouraging land donations on the eatery tables
Auroville’s second annual Art for Land auction took place on Febuary 25th after a month-long exhibition of creativity, beauty, fundraising events, & generosity. The action was capped by a joyous closing ceremony on the 28th: “Coming Together for Auroville’s Land!”
The “Auroville Lands Information Kiosk” set up at the Visitors Centre for Marathon Weekend was a great success! Now a permanent VC feature, it shows the film “Landing Auroville” every 7 minutes.
Anchored in Matter, Auroville is non-separable from its land. Today, securing Auroville’s still-missing land is the urgent need. Since we can all see this need around us, we must all unite and act! As Sri Aurobindo wrote: “If you merely wait for things to happen, there is no reason why they should happen at all”
“The true spirit of Auroville is collaboration and must be more and more so. True collaboration paves the way to divinity.”
These words of the Mother are relevant for us all – for those of us who live in Auroville, or are associated from a distance. Collaboration is built on
essential pillars, of which Gratitude is one – gratitude for being able to serve a vision that leads to a better and nobler life for all.
November 24th 1926 was the date of Sri Aurobindo’s great siddhi or realization, opening the gates to a greater, spiritualized consciousness for Humanity and the promise of Spirit and Matter in harmony. Auroville is the designated place for pioneering Sri Aurobindo’s great vision, flowering step-by-inspiring step. But one step is still needed – completing its material body with urgently-needed land.
