ART FOR LAND Exhibition & Land Fundraiser
August 7th to September 4th, 2022
at Auroville’s Unity Pavilion
In association with Auroville Art Service and the Acres for Auroville land campaign
ART FOR LAND & AUROVILLE’S UNITY PAVILION are pleased to announce the 7th year of our beautiful support action for Auroville’s land. ART FOR LAND is now also a recognized showcase for the creativity of Auroville artists and friend artists from India and around the world. This upcoming exhibition promises to be another truly beautiful one, with artworks in all media on display at the Unity Pavilion, along with numerous musical and cultural support events.
All of the works have been generously contributed by the participating artists to support the purchase of the still-missing land for Auroville’s Master Plan area. The proceeds of art sales and from AFL support actions all go to the ACRES FOR AUROVILLE land campaign for the purchase of the Master Plan land needed to complete and consolidate the physical body of the City of Dawn.
The exhibition’s artworks can be viewed and purchased at the Unity Pavilion, with the alternative option of online viewing and purchase via www.artforland.in. Solidarity land donations, without purchase of an artwork, can also be made at Unity Pavilion or online. As always, ART FOR LAND is meant as a precious support for the realization of Auroville – and in this special year of 2022, it is also intended as a gift honoring the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo and the 75th year of India’s Independence.
Our 2022 theme is Universal Peace and Harmony, expressing love and gratitude for the existence of Auroville, for consciousness, and for the gift of the beautiful life we have. So our action is not only celebratory, but also evocative, meant to evoke Unity by offering a creative contribution to help promote goodness and oneness. The times we find ourselves in could do with all the light in thoughts, feelings, and acts for a better, brighter future and for us all to live in oneness and hope.
In addition to the beautiful exhibition that will line the walls and spaces of the Unity Pavilion, our varied bouquet of dynamic events will include concerts, dance performances, inspiring talks and our annual favorites – the Generosity Fair, Grace Lottery, and Bicycle Raffle. Books and other items are available for sale as well at the Unity Pavilion and the new AFL Boutique.
