[mk_page_section][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]The new Secretary of the Auroville Foundation, Thiru Mohan Chunkath was present as the Special Guest for the inauguration of Phase 3 of the “Acres for Auroville” land campaign and the second year of the “GreenAcres” campaign on August 15th at Auroville’s Town Hall. The occasion also marked the second phase of the “Art for Land” action. Secretary Chunkath’s brief talk and his warm goodwill honoured the occasion!
Aurovilians Alan (of Auroville Today) and Inge (of the Working Committee) “cut the ribbon” to reveal the new poster for A4A Phase 3. Representing the poles of the “pioneering” generation and the younger “flame-carrying” generation, they held the role carried out by Varadharajan and Kavitha in kicking off last year’s A4A Phase 2, and by Mahalingam and Sindhuja for the original launch of the campaign on August 15, 2014. Members of the Land Board, representatives of Outreach Media, Auroville Radio, and Aurovilians residing in both the City and Greenbelt areas of Auroville attended.
Since its initial launch, A4A has twice successively reached its fundraising target and expanded its action each year from its initial Phase 1 target (Matrimandir & the International Zone) to the goal of Phase 2 (the 4 zones of the City Area). At the request of Auroville’s Land Board, A4A’s new third phase aims at priority plots anywhere in the Master Plan area. The GreenAcres campaign, exclusively focused on Greenbelt land and projects, launched the second year of its action after an encouraging start-off year. Aryadeep and Sigrid presented the powerpoints explaining the two campaigns. Jasmin made a presentation of the Art for Land action, showing some of the works donated by Auroville and Ashram artists. An Art for Land on-line site is currently in creation.
