The purpose of the Auroville Universal Township is to realise human unity. Founded by The Mother in 1968 as “The City of Dawn”, Auroville has the backing of the Government of India, and the unanimous endorsement of UNESCO, which commended it as a project of importance to the future of humanity.
Vital parts of land of the ‘Auroville Master Plan’ are still missing from the Township’s needed physical base. For Auroville’s 50th anniversary on February 28th 2018, we are planning a special birthday gift of gratitude…

50 years ago, earth from 124 countries, India, & the Samadhi of Sri Aurobindo were put together on land where The Mother put her Force. 50 years later, we see miracles born of Nature’s collaboration, lofty spiritual inspiration, and aspiring dedication to create a unique experiment called The City of Dawn – a place where spiritual light & energy continually inspire us all!
Over 50 nationalities have responded to the call for bringing together models of conscious living & creating human unity –
by sharing the best we carry and the best we can bring. New generations have been born there, and have grown up there together, and they have made life bloom!
